Andrew Lansley MP, Shadow Secretary of State for Health, welcomes review of cancer care
COMMENTING on the decision to review the transfer of specialist cancer services from Cornwall to Plymouth, Andrew Lansley, Shadow Secretary of State for Health said:
“I welcome the Independent Reconfiguration Panel’s decision to recommend a review of the transfer of cancer services away from Cornwall. Conservatives have been calling for such a review for many months, because we are committed to maintaining locally accessible services that are based on the best evidence about quality and safety.
“I pay tribute to all of the Conservative Parliamentary candidates and independent campaigners who have fought with such determination for quality local services and real choice for cancer patients in Cornwall.
“We know that Cornwall needs stability in the structure of hospital services. We are committed to working with hospital staff, patients and GPs to secure this stability, in order to enable everyone to focus relentlessly on improving results for patients.”
